Signs your disposal needs attention
- It hums but doesn't spin
- It won't turn on at all
- Water leaks from under the unit
- The sink drains slowly or backs up when it runs
- It keeps tripping its reset button

Try this first
Turn the switch off. Press the small reset button on the bottom of the unit, then try it again. If it still hums or stays dead, leave it off and call us. Never reach into a disposal.
Repair or replace?
Jams and loose connections can usually be fixed. If the housing itself is leaking or the motor has failed, replacing the unit is normally the better call. We'll tell you which one it is and give you the price before we start.
If the sink backs up even with the disposal off, the clog is usually further down the line — that's a drain cleaning job, and we handle that too.
Common questions
+ Why is my garbage disposal leaking?
Check where the water is coming from. Leaks at the top usually point to the sink connection, and leaks at the side usually point to a drain or dishwasher connection. Those can usually be fixed. A leak from the bottom of the unit usually means it needs to be replaced.
+ What shouldn't go down a disposal?
Grease, fibrous scraps like celery and corn husks, coffee grounds, and large bones. Grease is one of the most common causes of the kitchen drain clogs we get called for.
