Who handles backflow in Nipomo
Nipomo has more than one water supplier, and the paperwork differs. Nipomo Community Services District contracts with the County of San Luis Obispo for cross-connection oversight and reporting. The County sends the notices and reviews reports, and District staff follow up on late tests. Golden State Water serves other parts of Nipomo and runs its own program. Its test reports are emailed directly to Golden State Water, and the customer is responsible for getting it in. Check the name on your water bill. We'll file with the right one.
What Nipomo properties need a tested assembly
Ranch and large-lot homes with private wells tied into the house plumbing, equestrian properties with troughs and auxiliary supplies, irrigation meters, nurseries and ag operations, and the commercial centers along Tefft Street. On Nipomo CSD service, the device type and its installation need District and County approval.
How we handle your test
We test each assembly with a calibrated differential gauge: both checks, and on an RP the relief valve. Most single devices take about 30 minutes. For a business, we test before you open or after you close, so the water's never off during your hours. We carry repair kits for the common Watts, Febco, Wilkins and Zurn assemblies, so most failures get repaired and retested in the same visit. You get a copy of the report, and we file the certified copy with your water supplier (Nipomo CSD through the County program, or Golden State Water). A passing test that never reaches the district counts as no test.
Nipomo notes
Wells are the big one in Nipomo. A property that has both a well and a public water connection is the textbook cross-connection, and it needs an RP at the meter. On Golden State Water service we email the completed report to Golden State Water for you, so that step doesn't fall on you.
Common questions
+ I'm on Golden State Water in Nipomo. Who do I send the report to?
Golden State Water, by email. We send it for you after the test.
+ I have a well and city water. Do I need a backflow?
Yes, almost certainly. A well plus a public connection is a cross-connection and needs an RP at the meter.
+ Who sends Nipomo CSD notices?
The County's cross-connection program, on the District's behalf.
What Our Customers Say
I highly recommend Modern Perspective Plumbing! I called, and they were able to send someone to my house in a very short amount of time. Ed was friendly, personable, and easy to work with. He explained everything clearly, did great work, and the pricing was fair. It's so refreshing to find a company that provides excellent customer service and quality work. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again or recommend them to others.
Eddie was able to squeeze me into his schedule fast to help me with a bathroom remodel that I had already started demo on before I called him. When he showed up, he saw my old type M copper coming up from under the slab and advised me to replace that before it failed like half of my neighbors. He re-piped the house and the new bathroom within a couple days. Very clean and professional, highly recommend Eddie and Modern Perspective.
The team at Modern Perspective Plumbing are top of the line. Excellent quality work and even better human beings. Our old water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. MPP visited same day to check out the situation. Eddie replaced it the very next morning after I finished water damage remediation. They've earned our future business and recommendation. Give 'em a call; they'll take care of you.
